The team
rolled out their brand new Dodge Avenger after a month of
rebuilding what was left after Peterborough. The hard work
paid off as Dave qualified the car in 4th position and charged to
the front quickly in the first 50 taking the lead on lap 12.
Dave led for another 7 before Steve Robblee caught him and passed
him on the outside of turn 3. Dave and Steve checked on the
field with almost a straightaway between them and the 3rd place
car. A late race caution came out and bunched the field up
and Dave was forced to start in the outside groove "the car was a
little tight and we just couldn't get going on the outside - i
tried to stay with the guys on the bottom but we just couldn't
hang out there" stated Dave. Dave slid back to 6th spot
before he could find a hole to slide into and took the checker in
that spot.
The second
race Dave ran nose to tail with the leaders all race wrapping up
4th spot after running the outside groove for almost 25 laps when
the 27 of Matt Robblee stuck his nose on the inside of Dave coming
off of turn 2. "The car was really good - we barely got the
car ready for this race - it was much better then the results
showed, we should've had 2nd in the first race - if we freed it up
a little more for the 2nd race i'm sure we could've won" smiled
Dave.
