Dave sits in 3rd place on lap 33 before he has to pit to remove his bumper

The Schneider's team rebounds at Sauble

June 29th, 2008 - Arnprior, Ontario.

Saturday night the team visited the tight Sauble Speedway for Round 2 of the Ontario Sportsman Series.  The car was quick off the trailer and with the invert after qualifying Dave started the 1st race in 6th spot.  On the green the entire field jumbled on to each other going through 1 and 2.  Three wide racing for the first few laps was the norm and fiberglass was flying everywhere as the cars bounced off each other thru the turns.  Dave got shuffled behind a slower car and ended up in 10th spot as the field started to sort themselves out.  From there Dave drove thru the field as the car hooked up - after numerous cautions with Dave avoiding each wreck - Dave sat in 3rd place with 16 laps to go.  A miscue on a restart had the #8 of Ken Grubb drive into the back of Dave and torn off the rear bumper - but not quite all the way.  Dave had to pit and remove the bumper completely, from there Dave started at the back of the pack and drive his way through the field again.  Pressing hard Dave and the #12 of Mark Patrick connected in turn 3 and 4 and Dave torn the front bumper off the car but not completely - into the pits and off it came.  From the back Dave charged forward and made his way back up to 3rd spot before the right front fender let go and started flapping around - Dave was black flagged and forced to pit to remove it under green and that ended any chance of a solid finish.  He ended up 11th in the first 50.

The second race of the night Dave started the race minus his front bumper, rad shroud, brake ducts, front fenders, rear bumper cover, rear bumper, and rear tinwork......and the car was fast.  Dave started at the back and picked them off one by one.  With 10 to go was in 3rd and battling Josh Wood and Mike Alguire for the lead.  "They were two wide all over the place I tried to get under Josh but just couldn't get hooked up enough to get a run off the corner" stated Dave.  Finally Josh and Dave cleared Mike with the help of a lap car and with 5 to go Dave charged hard on the #66 of Josh Wood for the win.  Dave tried the low side but again the car wouldn't hook up - with 1 to go Dave drove it in deep in turn 3 and it stuck - Dave put the hammer down and the two cars came off turn 4 side by side for the checker.  Unfortunately Josh beat Dave back to the line with a margin of .005 seconds.

"I needed one more lap" said Dave "What's left of the car is just the fast stuff - we were so good but it's a miracle we didn't hurt the car after the first race.  That was a circus.....but it's a tight track and that happens.  I think that moves us to third in the points so it was  a good recovery from the first race".
