A bridesmaid once again!

July 12th, 2008 - Arnprior, Ontario.

Peterborough Speedway was the stage for the 3rd round of the Ontario Sportsman Series on Saturday night.  Dave and the Schneiders team unloaded very fast off the trailer again and after a few little changes qualified the car in 4th spot with a 14.86 just 1/10 of a second off the track record.

Dave started the 1st race in 6th spot with the invert - between qualifying and the race however the weather changed as a storm system started to move in.  The OSS took the green and Dave was on the outside again and battled up top but the lower line slowly moved past the outside line and finally Dave was able to find a hole on the bottom and slide in line in 9th place.  Dave fought his way back up through the field to 5th spot at the end of the first race.

"The car was so tight - it just wouldn't turn.  Everyone was tight though I couldn't believe how much the track changed from qualifying to this first race" said Dave.

The team opted for a big track bar change to try and free the car up and removed some sway bar out of the car for the 2nd race.

With the invert Dave was fortunate to start on the front row on the outside - "All I was thinking was I really hope this car turns going into turn 1 otherwise we're going to put it in the fence 'cause I'm not taking it easy going in there" stated Dave.  Championship point leader Matt Robblee started on the pole beside Dave and the two of them screamed wide open into turn 1 - Dave and Matt flew through turn 1 side by side and both stuck and away they went - Dave and Matt were the class of the field and the two of them drove away from the pack.  Matt driving on the preferred groove pulled ahead of Dave but the he was glued to his bumper and the two battled corner for corner throughout the first half of the race.

"Matt started to pick up a push and drove it harder into turn 1 and 3 as I pressured him - the car was perfect just a tick loose coming off"  Dave stuck his nose under Matt a few times and drag raced Matt down both straights but not enough to make it stick.

At lap 26 - just over halfway the rain finally came and shortened the night.

"There's no doubt we would've got Matt before the end of the race - but he was very fast off.   We'll take 2nd place - the win will come this year we're there - the cars running fantastic" stated Dave.  "We'll try see if we can pick one up at Barrie on the 26th"
