Solid start at Mosport Opener

     June 14th, 2008 - Arnprior, Ontario.

      Round 1 of the Ontario Sportsman Series found the team at Mosport Speedway for the Fathers Day 500 weekend.  The new Schneiders Hot Rod #82 was unloaded and hit the track.  The car was loose in practice so the team opted for a alittle less stagger in the tires and got ready for qualifying.  Dave ran a 23.09 which put him 7 quick but only 2 tenths off the pole time. 

      Dave started on the outside as the field of 19 cars roared down the front straightaway into turn 1 - Dave ran the highside for the first 10 laps battle Todd Musker on the inside.  Finally Dave got around the outside and started carving his way to the front.  "The car was really, really good" said Dave.  Dave finally ran down 2nd place car driven by Doug Brown and chased him down.  As the pair came up on a lapped car Doug had to lift briefly coming off turn 4 and Dave sensed the opportunity and kept his foot in and made it 3 wide down the front straight and passed Doug on the inside going into 1.  Dave and Doug battled for the next 25 laps.  "The car started to pick up a push in 1 and 2 and i just couldn't keep the car on the bottom - Doug finally got me back with about 5 to go" said Dave  "We'll take 3rd - we just missed it by a hair, but it's a great way to start the season."
