Top 15 in Nascar Canada in Montreal !

Aug 2nd, 2008 - Arnprior, Ontario.          This weekend Dave competed in Canada's largest race; the NASCAR Nationwide Weekend in Montreal on the very fast Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.  The NASCAR Canadian Tires Series started their practice sessions on Friday morning at 8:00 am.  Dave took the car to the track but found a miss in the engine.  Dave brought the car into the pits and the team went to work trying to diagnose the problem.           Qualifying was next and Dave ended up in 25th position "The car handles great and the brakes are working well - but we've still got an engine miss and it's killing me on the straights"  stated Dave "it's almost impossible to sort on this problem at the track - it's either the carb or ignition".

           Dave took the green and charged through turns 1 and 2 praying by the time he hit the back straight he would know if the miss was fixed or not.  Dave picked up 2 positions by the back straight but as he went through the gearbox on the straight the miss was still there at high RPM's.  Dave tried the 2nd ignition box but that was worse.  "I had to ride it out - I could reel in the guys in front of me through all the twisty bits on the back and under breaking but the straight I was losing probably 10 car lengths" said Dave.

            "We finished pretty good considering were racing with the best in Canada but it's frustrating when you don't have the horsepower to stay with the other guys on the straights - we'll find the problem and fix it for Trois Riveries in 2 weeks" stated Dave.
