Connelly ends season 3rd in the Championship!

Sept 20th, 2008 - Arnprior, Ontario.

Team RaceSportz with driver Dave Connelly headed to Barrie Speedway for the final round of the 2008 Ontario Sportsman Series Championship.  Dave worked closely with Kenyon Racing again trying a unique set-up for Barrie, which is tight 1/3 mile racetrack.

Dave rolled off the trailer and practiced in the 14.80's and made a few adjustments in stagger before qualifying.  Dave had a strong qualifying effort ending up 3rd overall.

With the inversion after qualifying Dave started the 1st 50 lapper in 7th place.  The field roared to the green and battled hard without a single caution for the entire race.  Dave worked his way up to 5th before contact with another car broke the valve stem on Dave's tire causing a flat tire he managed to limp the car to the checker but ended up in 9th spot.

The 2nd 50 lapper Dave ended up starting on the outside of the front row and didn't waste any time taking the lead from Ashley Taws coming out of turn 2 and lead the field for the first 10 laps until the 1st caution came out.  The field bunched up again and Dave lead the field back into turn 1 with Josh Wood #66 battling hard on the outside.  Dave and Josh ran side by side until the next caution came out.  Once again Dave and Josh battled lap for lap for the lead finally Dave's car freed up and Josh managed to slip by into turn 1.  Another caution left Dave in the outside groove and although Dave managed to hang on the outside for another 15 laps finally the inside line picked up and Dave battled to stay with them finally finishing 5th overall.

For the 3rd race Dave started in 4th spot on the outside - with a big sway bar adjustment and another track bar change Dave roared into 1 - the field ran side by side for the first 10 laps and then Dave found a hole and slid into 4th spot on the inside.  Dave slid into 3rd place after two laps and chased down Brennan Didero for 2nd.  Dave finally caught Brennan and hounded him for the balance of the race.  "We were quicker, no doubt but Brennan was quick off the corner - Brennan's a good friend and I didn't want to wreck him for one place - maybe for the win, but not for second" laughed Dave.  "We took home hardware tonight and that feels good - we'll get the top spot next season".
