Taken out at Trois Riveries!

August 18,2008 - Trois Riveries, Quebec

This past weekend Dave Connelly competed in the Nascar Canadian Tire Series event at the Grand Prix du Trois Riveries.  After practice and qualifying Dave sat in 18th spot to start Sunday's feature event in front of over 50,000 passionate Quebec race fans.

"The car was pretty good - we were able to diagnose the motor miss we struggled with at Montreal.  Three Rivers is a really tight track - there's no room for error" stated Dave.

The field took the green with Kerri Micks and JR Fitzpatrick leading the field into turn 1.  The field made it through turns 1 - 2 and 3 with no wrecks - Dave fell in line and the field roared up the back straight with 28 cars battling for position.

"We fell into position and just started getting a rhythm going - about lap 5 I was battling hard with the #5 of Andre Coursel and the #12 car of John Gaunt - the #21 had spun 2 laps earlier and pressing hard to try and catch back up to us - John's brakes were fading already and he was braking early at the end of the straight.  I don't know what the #21 was thinking he just drove into the back of me - I swear the car was five feet in the air at one point" said Dave. "Fans always ask me if the drivers are upset when stuff like this happens or if we just shrug it off.  Well I promise you I'm upset - it was a stupid move and we wrecked a good car - we would've finished in the top 10 guaranteed.  I feel so bad for my guys they worked their tails off between Montreal and now getting this car ready - and to take away a finish that we should've had breaks my heart, I wish I could sit here and say We'll Get'm Next Time etc. - but right now I'm just really disappointed with what happened - it was just someone driving over their head, I mean geez the guy spun his car out 3 more times that race.....it's just ridiculous"

"Right now we'll focus back on our oval program - we're 3rd in the championship in the Ontario Sportsman Series and we'll get ready for Delaware in 2 weeks and concentrate on winning that Series - but I'm still pissed about 3 rivers - maybe I can channel that aggression at Delaware" chuckled Dave.
